Welcome to Teacher's Pet:
Dogs and Kids Learning Together!
We are very excited about this unique
and innovative program that pairs at-risk youth from the Kingsley Montgomery School
in Waterford with unwanted shelter dogs for a twice a week, ten-week dog training
workshop. The students first learn the basics of animal handling, identifying
stress in dogs and why it's important to be able to put yourself in the dog's
paws' and move into Obedience 101 using the clicker training. The students will
work with the dogs on performing common dog actions including:sit,
stay, down, leave it, drop it, how to walk on a leash, not jumping on people
and more.
